Circle of Chairs x On Being and CoGenerate

In 2023, CoGenerate (formerly Encore.org) and On Being—the organization behind the esteemed podcast On Being with Krista Tippett—chose For You’s audio-driven folk dance, Circle of Chairs, for their Cogenerational Social Healing digital toolkit. The collection provides openings for reflection into the ways each of us might imagine ourselves drawing on intergenerational wisdom to advance social healing within our own communities. The Welcoming at KQED | December 12th, 2021

During the course of the pandemic, For You brought individual artists and elders together for creative exchange to ease isolation and make new friends. The Welcoming is a series of shared, public rituals that build off the relationships between For You and older adults from our Artists & Elders project. For KQED, The Welcoming includes a drag act performed by El Beh and Morningstar; a sermon delivered by Clarice, a Dominican Sister, accompanied by Crow’s woodworking; and a red carpet rollout for Harriet who stars in an animated short.

First Things First @ The Momentary 2019

In October 2019, For You heads to the Momentary (Bentonville, AR) to source ‘First Time’ stories; conduct open rehearsals for groundbreaking ceremonies with local marching bands, cheerleaders, and sports teams; and facilitate participatory, one-to-one digital duets. The second phase of First Things First uses that research to devise a new performance work, with a world premiere at the Momentary’s grand opening in February 2020.

First Things First is a project commissioned by the Momentary for their inaugural season.
